MAKIN' IT ON FRAGMENTS
Vibe & Sound Creator

Bio

Born and raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, DJ Jeff Brown embarked on his musical journey in the late 1980s. Under the mentorship of nightlife impresario Serge Becker, Jeff was introduced to New York City's dynamic downtown culture, profoundly influencing his eclectic style. His seamless blend of soul, jazz, funk, hip-hop, house, and garage classics quickly made him a sought-after DJ in iconic venues such as The Palladium, Canal Bar, Buddha Bar, Lot 61, and The W Hotel. In the late 1980s, Jeff expanded his horizons by relocating to Tokyo for two years. There, he collaborated with prominent Japanese DJs and producers, including UFO, S-Ken, Monday Michiru, Mondo Grosso, and Mr. 'God Make Me Funky' Paul Jackson of The Headhunters, further enriching his musical repertoire. Upon returning to New York, Jeff continued to evolve as a producer, working with artists such as Tek & Steele of Smif-N-Wessun, Todd Terry's House of Gypsies, J-Live, Dutchmin, and Monday Michiru. Most recently, Jeff served as the music curator and resident DJ at La Esquina NYC, where he helped shape the venue’s sound and vibe. Though he has since moved on from that role, his contributions continue to resonate in the space’s musical identity. Today, Jeff remains dedicated to delivering soulful, genre-spanning sets that reflect his lifelong passion for music.
